# Install and configure MySocials

Follow the source instructions for **MySocials**. Read the prerequisites and configuration steps before running an example.

## Getting Started

### **Prerequisites**
- Node.js 18+ 
- npm, yarn, or pnpm
- MongoDB database

### **Installation**

1. **Clone the repository**
   ```bash
   git clone https://github.com/qentrah/MySocials.git
   cd MySocials
   ```

2. **Install dependencies**
   ```bash
   npm install
   # or
   yarn install
   # or
   pnpm install
   ```

3. **Environment Setup**
   ```bash
   cp .env.example .env.local
   ```

   Fill in your environment variables:
   ```env
   MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
   CLERK_SECRET_KEY=your_clerk_secret_key
   NEXT_PUBLIC_CLERK_PUBLISHABLE_KEY=your_clerk_publishable_key
   ```

4. **Run the development server**
   ```bash
   npm run dev
   # or
   yarn dev
   # or
   pnpm dev
   ```

5. **Open your browser**
   Navigate to [http://localhost:3000](http://localhost:3000)

## Check the installation

After setup, continue with the [first example](/docs/up-to-code-mysocials/quick-start-guide). If a command fails, compare the runtime version, working directory, and required configuration with the original README before changing dependencies.
