# Run a first MySocials example

Start with the smallest workflow described by the README for **MySocials**. Complete [installation and configuration](/docs/up-to-code-mysocials/installation-guide) first.

## Run the local application

With MongoDB and Clerk configured as described in the installation guide, run:

```sh
npm run dev
```

Open [localhost:3000](http://localhost:3000). Use the profile and dashboard workflow described by the README to add social links and check their public presentation. When troubleshooting sign-in, check the Clerk configuration before changing application code.

## Check a profile

Confirm that each social link points to the intended account and that the profile displays in both light and dark themes. If you enable an access key, check the protected profile in a signed-out browser session as well.

## Next task

[Read the usage guide](/docs/up-to-code-mysocials/usage-guide).
