Edit QH configuration
Set the launch folder, shell, font, and tab placement in the desktop JSON file.
Change settings in the app
Choose the gear in the sidebar or press Cmd+, to open Settings. A separate, resizable Settings window has Appearance, Terminal, Storage, Keyboard, Commands, Updates, and About pages. Changes apply automatically after validation, and Saved appears when the local file has been written. Close Settings with its native window close button. The terminal sessions stay open. Settings window size and last page are saved separately.
Appearance has Charcoal, Graphite, and Midnight themes, six accent presets, custom color pickers, and font controls. Enter a theme name and choose Save current theme to keep your palette. Use a workspace or tab’s Color menu for a separate label color.
Edit the JSON configuration
Choose Open Configuration JSON, or run qh config. QH prefers VS Code, Cursor, or Windsurf when installed, then uses the file’s associated editor. The active path is printed by qh config path:
~/Library/Application Support/Qentrah/QH/config.jsoncJSONC accepts comments and trailing commas. Header comments link to this guide and GUI keyboard customization. Existing config.json and old app sidecar settings are imported once. GUI saves preserve comments on unchanged settings. Desktop windows reload valid editor changes; invalid edits keep the last active settings and show an error.

Saving can be disabled independently of restoring.
theme has background, surface, foreground, muted, border, primary, error, and selection colors, each as #RRGGBB. themes holds up to 20 complete named palettes. Custom themes, quick commands, and SQLite storage have examples.
Validate changes
Run qh config validate. A failed GUI edit shows Not saved and an error, and leaves the previous file intact. The Storage page shows the database path, size, startup time, main-process memory, session count, and up to 30 recent app errors from this window. Error history stays in memory and is not uploaded.
