Run
npm install
npm startRequires Node.js and npm. The interface is a local visual prototype. Its chat response is a placeholder; no Codex account or agent service is connected.
To build the macOS desktop application on Apple Silicon:
npm run package:macThe built .app appears in ../build/Codex UI Clone-darwin-arm64/. It can be opened like a normal macOS application.
Browser preview
Open index.html directly in a browser. The file picker uses the browser's own dialog there; Electron uses the native desktop dialog. Drag the narrow divider beside the sidebar to resize it. Use the magnifying glass or Cmd/Ctrl+K for the search page. Hover over a chat to remove it from this local preview.
Commands in the root manifest
The captured package.json declares the following scripts. Run them from the directory containing that manifest.
| Command | Script |
|---|---|
npm run start | electron . |
