Run a first desktop-new-tab example
Run a first desktop-new-tab example: Turn Chrome’s new tab into a desktop with folders, links, widgets, and local storage.
Start with the smallest workflow described by the README for desktop-new-tab. Complete installation and configuration first.
Try the installed extension
Build and load dist using the installation guide, then open a new Chrome tab. Right-click the desktop to add a folder, site, or widget. Drag a URL into a folder, open it again, and confirm that its contents remain after opening another new tab. Changes are stored locally; the README describes no account or server.
A Vite preview does not replace Chrome’s New Tab page. After changing extension source, rebuild and reload the extension card in Chrome.
